Additional Sections: On This Page:The Executive Members are defined in the National Bylaws? as those having governing and voting rights in the organization. They meet annually to elect National Board of Directors members as well as a National President. Executive Members must be approved by the National Board of Directors and serve fixed length terms that may be renewed. Executive Members are composed of the following people:
With nearly 1,000 active regions, they comprise the bulk of the membership. Area Directors number around 100 with their being 14 Sections and thus Section Directors. Often, most Regional Commissioners are not able to attend the NAGM? and so Area Directors carry their proxies; often open and flexible. So they dole out the proxies to others attending from their Area or hold them as a block of votes to cast on issues. As Regional Commissioners are often newer to poking their head out of their region and often focused on running their region, they tend to follow the guidance of their often more senior, experienced Area Director. Hence, the Area Directors tend to hold the real power in shaping policy originating from the grass roots level.
